Lake Biel region
Embedded in Seeland are the three lakes connected by canals: Lake Biel, Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten.
The Lake Biel region is known for its magnificent, almost southern vineyards and romantic waterfront villages. In addition, St. Peter's Island, which protrudes as a green headland into Lake Biel, is a feast for the eyes in itself.
The city of Biel
The city of Biel with its picturesque old town invites you to shop and relax. Known as a watch dynasty, Biel is the mother city of many international watch brands such as Rolex, Omega and Swatch. Visit Nicolas Haiyeck in his museum.
Lake Neuchâtel
With an area of 218.3 km2, Lake Neuchâtel is the largest lake located entirely in Switzerland. It is located in the cantons of Bern, Neuchâtel, Friborg and Vaud. On Lake Neuchâtel you will find beautiful blue bays surrounded by breathtaking nature reserves as well as exciting excursion destinations in the romantic ones
towns and villages on the lake.
City of Neuchâtel
From Neuchâtel you can reach the origin of one of the tributaries in just a few minutes by train.
Cross the Areuse Gorge on foot and enjoy the rippling of the water, which has been digging its way through the limestone of the Jura Mountains for millions of years.
At the end of this hike, fortify yourself with a nice glass of Oeil-de-perdrix.
This rosé wine is one of the specialties of the wine canton of Neuchâtel.

After a leisurely river trip, the Broye Canal takes you to Lake Murten. Here you will find, in addition to beautiful landscapes and walking paths, the extraordinary, almost medieval town of Murten.
